Episode 319 - Mean Wheels Mantis
Wow, this episode was a) dull and b) makes no sense. A whole episode about getting a new toy, with nothing else to offer. I apologize in advance. Recapping races (of the non-wacky variety) is really dull.
We get a shot of some mountains, and the geography of this colony still makes no sense. Maya is, for some reason, up a tree, and having a conversation with her fugly zord. She insists that talking to her zord is easy, and starts pulling a Pocahontas listen with your heart thing.
Meanwhile, Trakeena has a new monster courtesy of Deviot, and he's really annoying. He's a Mantis on a bike, and seriously, I wonder how the colony manages to keep rebuilding all the buildings that are destroyed. I mean, its not like they have unlimited resources. They are on a space ship.
Maya and Kendrix show up and fight him, and the girls are pretty awesome! Just as the other Rangers show up, Maya and Kendrix get turned into trophies. Mantis is all "Won't change them back unless you beat me in a race" and at least this episode is giving me an excuse to link to Wacky Races. The boys start chasing him around the dome, and seriously, the geography of Terra Venture makes NO SENSE at all. The monster is, of course cheating, and Kai gets knocked out by a rope placed on the road. Damon gets taken out by some falling rocks, so only Leo is left.
Leo and the monster fight and the monster manages to beat him via more cheating, and the monster vanishes with the trophies of Maya and Kendrix. Leo is blaming himself for this, even though a) monster cheated and b) Damon and Kai also got knocked out.
Damon is all "our bikes are trashed, we're screwed" and he also insists that its too dangerous. Of course, since Damon is also Miles O'Brien, he will come up with something brilliant. But really, he is only one man, and he can only do so much.
The Fug Zords try to talk to Leo, and somehow he understands that they're telling him he needs more power? Or something? So he takes his bike (which is fixed, because Damon is brilliant) and goes to find the monster. Leo puts up his saber as the stakes for the race.
The monster continues to cheat by shooting at him and jumping on his bike and just generally cheating. But Leo thinks about his friends and listens with his heart and somehow that makes his bike morph into a new bike. I... am not sure how listening with your heart manages to create a new bike that can also turn into a fireball but whatever, for Power Rangers, this somehow makes sense. I guess. The fish did it or whatever.
Damon is really impressed with the bike, and I still have NO IDEA HOW THE BIKE WAS CREATED. Anyway, since this episode is even more about selling toys than normal, we get the zord fight on top of the buy the shiny new bike toy propaganda.
Leo tells Maya that he learned about the cycle from the beast, and then tells her a story about baby galactabeasts, which is adorable, but also bullshit. Basically, Leo's whole plan boils down to keeping his fingers crossed and hoping for the best. I bet he supports the Chudley Cannons.
And then the team has an orgy.
Fish: Five. Seriously. What. This was the most blatant "buy the new toy" episode in a while.

Episode 92- Rocky Just Wants to Have Fun
Today we have the ONLY character development episode for Rocky in this entire season, and it's Secretly About Tommy. We get one half-arsed episode in season three and then nothing until Zeo. Even that is sporadic. Poor Rocky. You could have been so awesome, if only they'd given you a chance.
So we start off with Rocky and Billy sitting around a table at Ernie's Juice Bar. They have a pile of books and Billy is quizzing Rocky on math. Rocky gets the proper answer and Billy is sure Rocky will have no trouble acing the ADVANCED MATH test. The same ADVANCED MATH test that Billy himself is taking. Which means, Rocky is on level with Billy when it comes to math which means Rocky is NOT stupid (despite popular fanon opinion).
I kind of love Rocky, can you tell? I hate that he gets a bad rap in the fandom.
Anyway, Ernie is setting up a new pachinko machine. Ernie tells Rocky to give it a try and Zedd notices that Rocky seems to enjoy it. So while everybody conveniently turns away, Zedd puts Rocky under a spell. An irresponsibility spell. It makes Rocky want to play non-stop (and I see sudden disturbing similarities between Rocky and my Spousal Person). He even says he just wants to have fun when Billy tries to get him to stop playing and study some more. A Tiny Child of Adorableness comes up and pleads with Rocky to help her practice for her green belt, but he refuses. She asks Billy what's wrong with Rocky and THAT was the first sign to Billy that something really was amiss. Really? Do you have so little faith in Rocky, Billy, that you wouldn't notice when he goes from abnormally responsible teenager to tethered to a pachinko machine? Seriously?
Meanwhile, Skull blocks Bulk's video game (oh arcade games... I miss the days of your allowance eating fun) with a huge stack of papers. It appears Skull has done LOTS of research. He's gathered information on every single monster attack for the prior six months and coordinated local citizens habits. He discovered that every time a monster attacked, Ernie had the day off (except he didn't really). Ergo, Ernie must be a Power Ranger! They grow suspicious.
In Ranger happenings, instead of remembering those handy little communicators that he invented, Billy runs all the way to the park to meet up with the others and tell them something is wrong with Rocky. Adam says he'll go talk to Rocky, but not once does ANYBODY say "Gosh, maybe my normally reliable friend has fallen under a spell that has changed his personality! We ought to look into that hypothesis." No, that never crosses their minds. They are horrible friends.
Zedd doesn't want them ruining his fun so he sends down a bunch of putties. He's cruising around space in Serpenterra for no reason other than he's a badass. Go on with your bad self, Zedd, and have your fun.
Aisha brilliantly remembers the communicator she's had for all of a month or whatever and calls Zordon. They apparently need backup. Zordon is going to send Rocky over and doesn't question Rocky's behaviour when he answers his communicator in a surly voice and nearly refuses to go the park. He changes his mind, however, when he realizes the park could be a lot of funsince Adam is there and Rocky always finds "fun" with Adam.
Back at the Youth Center, Bulk and Skull are trying to be secretive and detective-like and investigate Ernie. It's adorable and Skull is awesome at improvising.
Rocky shows up at the park and ignores the putties, instead playing around with a frisbee and the playground equipment. He has some nice arms. Ahem. Anyway, Zedd turns Ernie's pachinko machine into a monster and the rangers all morph, even Rocky, though we can't figure out why he morphed as well. He runs straight for the monster, thinking he'll know how to have fun. He dances around the other rangers and generally acts very silly. They STILL don't suspect a spell or any kind of evildoing. Terrible terrible friends.
The pachinko machine monster starts turning rangers into balls and Rocky plays around with them. Heeee. My inner twelve year old giggles uncontrollably at Rocky playing with his teammate balls. Eventually even Rocky is turned into a ball leaving Tommy as the only ranger standing. He throws a frisbee and the monster chases it, giving Tommy enough time to collect his friends-as-balls and teleport to the Command Center. He tells Zordon Rocky was acting kind of funny and Zordon scans him, discovering he was under a spell the whole time. AND NOBODY NOTICED. *sigh* So Tommy is determined to be the hero and stop the monster on his own. He doesn't need his friends or anything.
Tommy goes off to fight while Alpha finds a way to turn the balls back into rangers. Tommy kind of fails and this takes up about half the episode it seems. Because it's all about Tommy and how he's supposedly awesome. Luckily, Rocky is revived and somehow that magically broke the spell. He feels incredibly guilty (and self-loathing!Rocky is really hot... I may have relationship issues) and is determined to beat the monster and make up for his irresponsible behaviour. So he goes to fight with Tommy. And he wasn't doing half bad until the others show up with their zords. At that point Zedd comes down in Serpenterra and tries to step on them. Tor magically appears and we see the same exact footage we saw four episodes ago. Tor gets squished, Serpenterra loses power (in this episode because Tor drained it), the city is saved (but looks nothing like Angel Grove, because four episodes ago it was an abandoned city on another planet), and Serpenterra flies away. The rangers win by default.
Back at the Youth Center, Bulk and Skull discover that Ernie is not, in fact, a Power Ranger. Bulk is mad at Skull for having an hypothesis. Poor Skull.
Rocky walks over to Aisha and Billy and tells them he'll join their study session after he teaches his karate class and helps Tiny Child of Adorableness practice for her green belt. Billy is kind of mean and decides to confirm that Rocky really is being responsible and doesn't "just want to have fun". Rocky says he learned his lesson, but really? He was UNDER A SPELL. His behaviour was NOT IN HIS CONTROL. It's not like he was doing it on purpose. Anyway, Aisha breaks out and old saying and it's basically a turnaround of "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."
Billy still doesn't quite believe him, though, even when Ernie offers Rocky another game of pachinko. I just want to smack Billy upside the head and repeat UNDER A SPELL over and over. It wasn't his fault, people! Give the poor kid a break.
And that's all the not-really-development of Rocky we get for... um... basically ever (although this episode does totally set up our personal fanon that Rocky has an addictive personality... which I kind of love about him, even if it's not exactly a healthy thing).
List time!
4 fish. I'd like some actual character development here, please!
Billy speak: "So it's the exponential difference between this number and that number."
"It's sensational not to be spherical"
Covered in food: Bulk and Skull had some popcorn accidentally spilled on them? But I'm not really counting it.

Episode 84 - The Ninja Encounter Part 3
Previously, on Power Rangers - absolutely nothing happened. Really, I've seen these episodes a dozen times (this is what happened when I decide to write 10,000 words of fic about them) so I've looked for something that happens in them. It's like they used up all the actual plot and dialogue for the first part, and then they realized that this was supposed to be a three parter, and put something together at the last second.
Adam/Rocky/Aisha are still in the cave. And you know, I love them all so much, but man, the acting in this is so bad. And we get some more ridiculous dialogue "I never imagined I'd use my abilities for evil." Really, Rocky? That's even more cheesy than Adam's earlier line. I choose to believe that Rocky is making fun of Adam.
Meanwhile, Bulk is playing with baby Jacob in the park, making silly faces at him and asking him "who's a punky monkey?" Skull arrives with like 10 boxes of diapers, and was going to explain the advantages of cloth diapers or whatever, but I will spare you the lecture. :P We get a really long sequence of Bulk ripping the diapers as he tries to change Jacob, and they eventually uses Skull's bandanna. Oh, and Bulk gets squirted in the face. With water from Jacob's bottle. ;)
Back at the Command Center, Billy manages to unfreeze everyone, so they go fight the monster and summon the zords again. But now they're nearly too late, as the snake is about to infuse Aisha with the venom of evil, so Zordon decides that it is finally more important to rescue the three teens and their teacher, so he pulls everyone but Jason and Zack away from the fight. So, they can operate the Zord with two people? And why didn't they just take the thirty seconds earlier? Why are there so many fish in this episode? Why isn't Rocky shirtless? These are the important questions we need to ponder right now!
Kim and Tommy go fight the putties while Trini and Billy go rescue my OT3. Aisha, despite having been told not to make any sudden movements, whirls around to yell that the Power Rangers are there, but the snake doesn't bite her. It's a failbot, that snake. Billy pulls the snake off of them, and wrestles around with it on the ground. Trini shoots the chains that are tying them up, and then teleports out Mr. Anderson, while Rocky/Adam/Aisha go join the fight with the putties. (Why she doesn't teleport the three of them as well? We guess the fish told her not to.)
Kim tells them to aim for the Z, and then the three of them immediately begin to beat up the putties, because they are awesome. And I would seriously just watch more of them fighting. I love how Aisha is told to aim for the Z and carefully aims her fist at a putty that is jumping at her so he destroys himself. I love how awesome Adam is at fighting. I love that Rocky isn't wearing a shirt under his vest. So, all the Putties are destroyed, and they realized Billy still hasn't emerged from the cave. Because he is rolling around on the ground with the snake, talking about how it can't bite him.
Kimberly shouts Billy's name, and she and Tommy run over to him. Kimberly shoots the snake, and it vanishes, and for some reason Billy can't breathe, so they take off his helmet. We don't know why. But we do know that Billy seems remarkably better after his face ends up in her lap.
But oh no! The Stone Canyon Trio has seen Billy's face (and you know, heard Kim call his name.) The other two take off their helmets, and everyone is shocked! SHOCKED! (On a related note, I love how you could clearly see that Tommy's hair was not tucked into the helmet. Fail!
Meanwhile, Zack and Jason destroy the monster. And Trini leaves Mr. Anderson at the bottom of a hill, telling him that baby!Jacob is up at the top.
At the Command Center, Zordon tells the Trio that he has investigated their backgrounds, and he trusts them as they are all wholesome and good, and are clearly used to keeping secrets since they're all dating each other. They swear upon the forces of goodness not to reveal the Rangers' identities.
Back at the Park, Bulk and Skull are telling Mr Anderson about how the Rangers once saved them. Aisha winks at Kim and says the Power Rangers saved them too. Subtle, Aisha. Real subtle. Bulk and Skull want to interview everyone, but then they run away after Mr. Anderson asks them to babysit.
Fish: 4. Not quite as ridiculous as part 2, but still pretty bad. Seriously, if it only lived up to the awesomeness that was part 1...
Covered in: Bulk gets covered in water. At least they didn't go for the obvious joke.
Billy speak: "I've boosted the stimulator to maximum capacity, but it's not working."

Episode 83 - The Ninja Encounter Part 2
Previously, on Power Rangers - Bulk and Skull take care of a tiny child, and I have an OT3. Luckily for all of you, I am recapping the middle part in which absolutely nothing happens, and that means that I will not be allcapsing at you about my love of Adam nearly as much as I would if I'd had the first part. But seriously, we could skip this episode, because absolutely nothing happens in it. It is boring and stupid and filled with fish, and also Adam is only in it for like 30 seconds.
So, the Stone Canyon Trio are being held in the cave. Zedd sends down a monster, and the footage of him summoning it looks remarkably like the Spit Flower. So Jason/Zack/Trini go use some new form of teleportation called Jetting (which is just flying, whatever) to go fight the Terror Blossom, while Kim/Tommy/Billy go rescue the Stone Canyon Trio. It is very important that the trio is rescued, because Zordon points out that they are very talented. I am sure they are. (I love them so much, have you noticed?)
Speaking of the Stone Canyon Trio, Aisha apparently sucks at picking locks, because she's still working on it. (Her ability to pick locks in this episode is totally why I put her on the criminal career track in the Sims. She lives in a house with Rocky and Adam, and all three of them are in love with each other, which is a problem because the Sims 2 doesn't let you have poly!relationships, so every now and then one of them will catch the other two making out and then they'll slap each other and I have to make them all be in love again. Anyway.) But Mr Anderson tells them not to do anything, because they'll just antagonize the monsters. So instead of being proactive and trying to escape, they should just wait around to be turned evil. Great advice, teacher man!
Anyway, it is very clear that Jason/Trini/Zack are gone, because they get their asses kicked really quickly, as the Terror Blossom summons the hatchosaurus. So just as Kim/Billy/Tommy arrive at the Cave of Captivity/Despair/whatever they're calling it this week, they have to all three leave Adam/Rocky/Aisha behind to go help the other Rangers, even though one of them could clearly have stayed behind to rescue the Stone Canyon Trio. But no.
There is a ridiculously long Zord sequence, and this entire episode is so unnecessary, I can't even deal. They fight and blow up the Hatchosaurus, but wait! It still has the cardiotron thing, just like last time, so it reforms! I am so shocked that they remember that this monster existed. But why is this even happening? It is entirely unnecessary. And why does Zedd keep recreating Rita's monsters, anyway? Weren't they inferior to his?
Back at the cave, Aisha finally finishes picking the lock, and the Trio attacks the putties. They are so awesome, I can't even tell you. But then Goldar teleports back in and ties them back up with the golden glowy rope of bondage doom, and he makes a note to tie them tightly and then he leaves behind a wooden serpent that is going to fill them with the venom of darkness, and I am just saying - there should totally be more porn in this fandom. (I am refraining from copying my all caps insanity, you can thank me later.) Oh, and Rocky hates snakes.
So, the Rangers destroy the Cardiotron, and it is way easier than last time. A fish must have helped them out or something. They head back to the Command Center instead of immediately going to rescue the Stone Canyon Trio. And oh look, Zedd has sent down another monster, so everyone splits up again. And right before Billy/Kim/Tommy are about to go into the cave to rescue Adam/Rocky/Aisha, Trini/Jason/Zack are frozen by the Terror Blossom, so they need to go off and save them first. This ENTIRE EPISODE is unnecessary. They quickly teleport the frozen Rangers back to the Command Center, and then Kim and Tommy just stand around while Billy tries to figure out the science stuff.
Back at the cave, the wooden serpent is come to life and is coiled around Aisha, who is freaking out. They are running out of time, but at least the episode ends on a look of concern on Adam's face. He is so pretty.
I would just like to point out that I kept my flailing down to a minimum for this. HA.
Fish - FIVE. SO MANY FISH. WHY DOES THIS EPISODE EXIST AT ALL?

Episode 79 - Two For One
Hey, there's a thread on to celebrate the awesome women of Power Rangers, and you should all go and post on it.
You know, I was checking earlier, and Tommy has had more episodes about him than any other Ranger. Sadly, we are continuing that trend today, although Kimberly also takes top billing.
We open at the Juice Bar, where Kim is prancing about in an absolutely ridiculous dress. She asks Trini what she thinks, and Trini tells her that it's adorable, and asks if it's for her date with Tommy. First of all, Trini, don't lie to her. That dress is awful. Second, don't encourage her. Before Trini can continue to lie to her, Richie brings over their (diet) soda, and we both sulk about that for a minute, and then Richie is ridiculously adorable and asks Trini to go study with him later. Study. Sure. Is that what they were calling it?
Anyway, Kim tells us a little bit more about her purse. Apparently it's the purse her mom took on her first date with her dad. There is so much wrong here I don't know where to start. 1-It isn't Kimberly's first date with Tommy. 2-Kimberly's parents are divorced, so this isn't a good sign for her continued relationship with Tommy. 3-That purse is FUGLY.
Bulk and Skull walk in, with a Power Rangers detector that was created by Bulk's cousin Waldo who goes to Angel Grove Tech. I'm going to refrain from a Where's Waldo joke, or trying to figure out where Angel Grove Tech is. And it is seriously the best detector ever - it has two settings "Power Rangers" and "Not Power Rangers". And it has smiley faces! Amazing!
So, Tommy shows up, all sweaty because he's been sparring with Jason. Kim asks if he's ready, and he tells her that it's only three, so he's got time. Of course, it's after four by this point, but whatever. Kim borrows Trini's lipstick, and waits for Tommy to finish showering.
Zedd and Goldar decide to ruin their date, and they'll turn Kim's purse and the stuff in it into two monsters, because Goldar wants one of his own. Now, I know we've been saying that they should have multiple monsters attack, but um, this was ridiculous. So they send putties down to attack Kim and Tommy, and Tommy is actually really adorable and romantic, asking Kim "May I have this dance?" and spinning her around before they go beat up some putties. They beat them, and then the purse gets turned into a monster. They morph, and the purse monster freezes them.
Zordon was apparently paying attention, because he calls the others. Jason and Zack were having a slap fight. It was pretty adorable. They actually spend most of the episode looking like they're about to make out, which pleases me greatly. Zordon explains that there are two monsters, and Trini and Billy are told to stay behind and figure out what piece of equipment will be able to unfreeze them. Jason asks Zack to go rescue Tommy and Kim, and they gaze soulfully into each others' eyes. Jason, meanwhile, will fight the lipstick monster with the giant phallic symbols by himself.
Zack immediately also gets frozen, and Jason calls his zord and starts to get his ass kicked. Billy and Trini eventually figure out how to free everyone, and they defreeze everyone else. While this is going on, Bulk and Skull follow their Ranger detector into the lake. After they get unfrozen, Tommy fights the purse monster by himself, while everyone else runs off to help Jason. He promptly gets tied up, so Saba saves the day and somehow the monster is destroyed. IDEK.
Meanwhile, the other Rangers all summon their zords, and it turns out that their zords have wacky powers! The unicorn zord can move boulders, the griffon shoots fire, and the firebird creates whirlwinds. (It's possible that the lion does something also, but we were too busy trying to figure out why Billy's zord was telekinetic.) Anyway, instead of forming the megazord, it turns out that Jason's zord just needed a ride? It jumps off of the others and hits the lipstick monster with its staff.
Kim gets her purse back, but there's no sign of the lipstsick. And Bulk and Skull find a bunch of kids. Pretty weak ending.
Fish: 4.5 Everything about this episode was ridiculous.
Billy speak: "The multiple arsenal must come from the paraphernalia from the receptical from which it was created."
"If only I could get the right coordinates on the refractor shield"

Episode 42 - Something Fishy
I'm really sorry I didn't get to Devon's Ghost yet. I've had a really hectic week. It is coming, I swear.
We've reached the reason this blog exists! This is the Billy is afraid of fish episode. And yes, he obviously gets over it at the end, but we still really doubt that he would move to a fish planet and then hook up with one. But the point is, our hatred of that particular plot point would be the reason that we have this blog and the rating scale that we do, so major love for this episode! (It is totally fitting that this is episode #42.)
Our episode begins with discovering that Jason is a licensed diving instructor, which also means that he wears really atrocious shorts. Jason, Zack and Trini are going to go scuba diving, and they invite Kimberly and Billy along. Kimberly says that she doesn't want to mess up a perfectly good hair day (which, it really isn't. Her outfit is pretty awful as well) and Billy says that he doesn't like fish. Instead, Billy and Kimberly are going on a picnic by a lake. Because they are adorable.
Bulk and Skull show up, and it looks like Bulk is wearing tights. Predictable hijinks ensue, where Skull harasses Trini (which is different. Shouldn't he be hitting on Ki instead?) and we find out that they're planning on going fishing. Also, Bulk's locker is disgusting. Seriously, there is no reason for that much trash to be in there. Ewww.
Later, Jason gives a lecture on diving safety, and we get some shots of them zipping up their wet suits. We approve of this. A lot. We have no idea when (or how at 16) Jason managed to become a licensed diving instructor, but at least later canon manages to remember this point.
While they're diving, Kimberly and Billy are having a lovely picnic. Apparently Billy's fear of fish extends to eating fish, (Kim packed fish and chips for lunch) and I'm sure that Cestria will have a major problem with this later. Kimberly asks Billy why he's so afraid of fish, and we get treated to a flashback of wee ickle Billy trying to apply what he learned of whirlpools to a pond, where a fish bit him! Seriously, he is so adorable. Kimberly giggles, and I really can't blame her. She also points out that at least it wasn't a piranha.
There's a disturbance, and they glance over to see Bulk and Skull fishing. Bulk has managed to catch a no fishing sign, along with a lot of other garbage. Apparently their Clean up club didn't do this section of the park. Bulk and Skull try and catch a fish, but all they manage to do is hook their lines to their belts and they end up throwing themselves in the lake.
After laughing at them, Kimberly suggests they go see the divers and then get some ice cream. Billy is all excited, and he asks if it can be chocolate chocolate chip. Now I'm craving ice cream. Which I don't have, but I think there are brownies. Mmmbrownies.
Before they get very far, putties attack! Rita was listening in ontheir date Billy's fear of fish, and now it is time for an attack. At first Kim and Billy are all "Oh no! Too many putties!" but they end up winning, and they are awesome. Plus, we get to see their gymnastics skills. The Kim and Billy fights are always way fun to watch.
After they defeat the Putties, they actually remember that they have communicators. They contact Zordon and find out that Rita has unleashed a new monster called the Goo Fish, which is the best name ever. The Goo Fish spits out a goo that basically immobilizes people. We should really start keeping track of how many monsters can glue people to the ground or freeze them, I'm guessing it's a lot.
Billy and Kim go and fight alone, while Zordon tries to contact the divers. Did they seriously not plan for this at all? Luckily, their communicators are waterproof, and the other three are just finishing up their swim. Unfortunately, Zordon calls them right before they were about to strip off their wet suits. *sadface*
As Kim and Billy fight the Goo Fish, who is voiced by Lord Zedd and we are both really weirded out by that, Rita places a spell on Billy to make his fear of fish even worse. He goes and cowers by a rock while Kimberly protects him, until the other Rangers show up. Goo Fish runs away, and the Rangers all go back to the Command Center, where they start complaining about how tough the mosnter was. SERIOUSLY? After the events of Doomsday they think this is tough?! Whatever.
They go fight the Goo Fish again, and the Divers get gooed. Billy is all afraid again, so Kimberly kicks some serious ass to protect her friends. Unfortunately, it isn't enough. But Billy's love of his friends gives him the strength to break the spell and (temporarily) face his fear of fish. Rita makes the monster grow, and wow, they were really running low on Sentai footage, because this is one long Zord sequence. The Goo Fish starts beating them up and then Zack (Zack!) comes up with the idea to convert the Goo to energy and somehow that lets them summon the Power Sword and beat up the Goo Fish. Whatever, at least we got 18 minutes into the episode before we had to call fish.
Back at the Youth Center, at a much later point in time, Billy returns from going fishing with Ernie. He claims he might actually like this sport. Ernie says they'll cook up what they caught. Bulk and Skull show up, saying they caught the big one. It turns out that Skull just bought a giant can of tuna. Oh, Skull. Skull says he doesn't know any other kind of fish. *pets him* Everyone laughs. Bulk wants to inspect what Billy caught, and it turns out that Billy caught a lobster. There is so much wrong with that we really don't know where to start. First, that was the most fake lobster ever. Second, there was no way that lobster was alive. And third, that was not a California Lobster. And there are regulations about getting those lobsters, and we doubt that Billy got a sports fishing license. (Yes, this is exactly the sort of thing we nitpick.) (This may just prove my point that Angel Grove is secretly its own country.)
Also, I wouldn't laugh if someone has a lobster attached to their nose. That is just mean.
Fish: This episode gets 2.5 fish. Mostly for the WTF of the Zord fight and the fact that we ended up spending 20 minutes discussing the lobster after.
Billy speak: "I have a regrettable dislike for fish"
"A carefully planned distance from any fish substance!"
"My intuition tells me that Rita is up to something."
(There was probably a lot more, but we were too busy yelling about him eventually marrying a fish)
Covered in: Bulk and Skull get covered in garbage, thrown in a lake, and then Bulk gets a lobster stuck to his nose.
Questions to ponder: What other crazy plot points from early seasons should have shown up later on?
